While performing the Oscar-nominated song “Stand Up for Something” — made for the film “Marshall” — the rapper Common went political on the Academy Awards stage Sunday night.
Before getting into his song, Common gave shoutouts to “dreamers” and “immigrants” — and took a shot at the NRA.
“Tell the NRA they in God’s way,” he rapped.
Halfway through his song, he made similar statements.
Ironically, Common said this at a venue protected by armed security guards and police officers.
