Gingrich: The 2021 elections are filled with key lessons for Republicans. Vice President Kamala Harris had already warned in a Virginia visit late in the campaign that “what happens in Virginia will in large part determine what happens in 2022, 2024 and on.” If Republicans learn the lessons of 2021 – and apply them to 2022 and 2024 – they can prove Harris was truly prophetic. Here are some of the key lessons for building an enduring, governing, American majority:
Run everywhere- Ed Durr in New Jersey defeated the state senate president, who had survived the most expensive legislative race in history four years earlier ($19 million for both sides combined). The latest campaign filing reports show Durr spent $2,300 – $60 went to Dunkin Donuts for coffee and doughnuts for volunteers and $93 went to pay for printing handouts.
Republican Ann Davison won the city attorney’s race in Seattle. John Lujan won a 73 percent Latino state legislative special election in San Antonio. No one expected these Republican victories. In 1994, we ran candidates in 432 of 435 districts. That is the model for 2022: Run at every level – Congress, governorships, state legislatures, county commissions, city councils, school boards, etc. Don’t target. Recruit.
Focus on real life- For most Americans, real life and real problems dwarf Washington trivia or ideology. Terry McAuliffe emphasized Jan. 6, Donald Trump, and incendiary rhetoric (suggesting concern over Critical Race Theory is a dog whistle for racism). Glenn Youngkin focused on parents, educational excellence for students, stopping crime, growing jobs, cutting taxes, and other issues which relate to real life. The Big Government Socialist mistake of thinking government and politics are the center of life continues.
The 30/70 Imperative- Republicans must spend no more than 30 percent of their time discrediting and repudiating Big Government Socialism. At least 70 percent of their time must be spent advocating positive solutions – in terms people understand – that will improve Americans’ lives and their family’s lives.
Be not afraid- Do not be afraid of the left’s hatred, smears, and vitriol. This includes hit pieces and attacks from media. When they yell “racist” refer to Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s assertion that we should be judged by the content of our character, not the color of our skin. Americans agree with the focus on character rather than race by 91 percent to 6 percent. This is why McAuliffe’s last-minute statement that Virginia has too many white teachers hurt him so badly. McAuliffe’s notion was pure racism and utter nonsense. Virginia needs good teachers of all backgrounds. We should focus on effective teaching – not skin color…
These lessons hold the potential for amazing election cycles in 2022, 2024, and beyond. It is up to us to learn and apply them.

Isn’t it just the most blatant act of politicians using taxpayer’s moneys to buy votes to keep themselves in power?? Disgusting and hopefully, more and more citizens will catch on to the game they play, which has nothing to do with being a loyal American and representing their constituency and their country to the very best of their ability. It is all about enriching themselves using privilege and staying in power!
