On Tuesday, Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez responded to former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin being found guilty on all counts for the murder George Floyd by saying, “It’s not justice.”

AOC argued that George Floyd should be at home with his family, and that a single trial isn’t a “substitute for policy change.”

Ocasio-Cortez made her comments in an Instagram video.

AOC Wants Policy Changes

“It’s not justice,” AOC said. “I’ll explain to you why it’s not justice.”

The far-left Democrat continued, “It’s not justice because justice is George Floyd going home tonight to be with his family.”

Ocasio-Cortez then mentioned other alleged police brutality victims and other reasons why she believed justice was not achieved with the Chauvin verdict.

AOC: ‘It Wasn’t Just Derek Chauvin’

“Justice is Adam Toledo getting tucked in by his mom tonight,” AOC said. “Justice is when you’re pulled over, there not being a gun that’s part of that interaction because you have a headlight out.”

“Justice is your school system not having or being part of a school-to-prison pipeline,” she continued.

“Justice is a municipality and a government that does not — because it trickles down right? — that does not value military and armaments more than healthcare, and education, and housing.”

AOC then condemned the entire justice system.

“So, no, this verdict is not justice,” Ocasio-Cortez began to wind down. “Frankly, I don’t even think we call it full accountability, because there are multiple officers that were there.”

The three other officers involved in the death of George Floyd will stand trial later this year.

“It wasn’t just Derek Chauvin,” the “Squad” member finished. “And I also don’t want this moment to be framed as this system working, because it’s not working.”

AOC also tweeted on Tuesday, “That a family had to lose a son, brother and father; that a teenage girl had to film and post a murder, that millions across the country had to organize and march just for George Floyd to be seen and valued is not justice.”

“And this verdict is not a substitute for policy change.”
