Yesterday, we reported on a segment that ran on CNN in which host Don Lemon and two panelists viciously mocked supporters of President Donald Trump. Now, this clip has come back to haunt CNN, as the Republican National Committee (RNC) has turned it into a powerful new ad.

The clip, which comes from Saturday night, shows Lemon laughing hysterically as ex-Republican strategist Rick Wilson and CNN contributor Wajahat Ali demeaned the intelligence of Trump supporters by claiming that they could not even find Ukraine on a map.

“[Mike Pompeo] also knows deep in his heart that Donald Trump couldn’t find Ukraine on a map if you had the letter ‘U’ and a picture of an actual, physical crane next to it,” Wilson said as Lemon began laughing. “He knows that this is, you know, an administration defined by ignorance of the world, and so, that’s partly him playing to their base and playing to their audience. You know, the credulous boomer rube demo that backs Donald Trump.”

As Lemon continued to laugh so hard that he started to cry, Wilson put on a fake southern accent while saying, “‘Donald Trump’s the smart one — and y’all elitists are dumb.”

“You elitists with your geography and your maps – and your spelling!” Ali added, putting on a southern accent of his own.

“‘Your math and your reading!’” Wilson continued, still speaking in the offensive accent. “‘All those lines on the map!’”

Flipping the script on CNN, the RNC made an ad in which they used this clip as well as others showing 2020 Democratic presidential candidates Pete Buttigieg and Joe Biden disparaging Trump supporters. At one point in the commercial, Buttigieg can be seen saying that supporters of Trump are “looking the other way on racism, at best.”

The ad also shows the infamous moment Hillary Clinton described Trump supporters as a “basket of deplorables” while she was running for president in 2016.

“You could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. You know, the racists, sexists, homophobic, xenophobic, islamophobic, you name it!” she said at the time.

At the end of the ad, the words, “They think you’re a joke. Prove them wrong in November” flash across the screen.

The ad hits home because CNN really does think Trump supporters are a joke. Instead of trying to come to the bottom of why millions of people voted Trump into office back in 2016, CNN has spent the past three years vilifying conservatives to the point where their network has become unwatchable for anyone who is not far left.

In the end, all CNN is doing is helping Trump get reelected for a second term in the White House, and they only have their own arrogance to blame.
