Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), the freshman progressive Democrat, showed her support on Tuesday for the House Judiciary Committee’s impeachment efforts against President Donald Trump.
She added that Senate Republicans who “knowingly vote against impeachment of this president, knowing his corruption,” will “have that stain on their careers the rest of their lives.”
“Once the House impeaches, the House has impeached the president,” Ocasio-Cortez told reporters on Tuesday — despite the fact that that there hasn’t been a full impeachment vote in the House.
“If they [the Senate Republicans] want to fail it, then I want to see every Republican go on the record and knowingly vote against impeachment of this president, knowing his corruption, so that they can have that stain on their careers the rest of their lives because this is outrageous to protect the amount of lawlessness,” she also said.
Here’s some of the coverage of AOC’s remarks.

Rep @AOC asked if worried impeachment would fail in Senate: "if they want to fail it then I want to see every Republican go on the record and knowingly vote against impeachment, knowing his corruption, so that they can have that stain on their careers the rest of their lives."

Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.), chair of the House Judiciary Committee, wants a committee vote.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) keeps claiming the party is “united,” yet she continues to stall impeachment efforts.
“I think you should characterize it [the resolution] for what it is,” Pelosi told Fox News. “It’s a continuation of what we have been doing. You know, we all work together on these things.”
Ocasio-Cortez was talking about Trump’s impeachment even before she won her House seat during the fall 2018 midterm elections, calling it a “no-brainer.”
AOC renewed her calls for impeachment over the weekend after reports of an investigation into military spending associated with Trump’s Turnberry resort in Scotland:

The notion that Republicans who oppose impeachment will somehow tarnish their careers can only be believed by those so Trump-deranged that they can’t understand a party supporting its president.
Not to mention that they cannot explain or say what Trump actually did that might rise to the level of an impeachable offense.
Democrats will continue to behave as though literally every move is worthy of impeachment.
Most Americans see through it — and Pelosi, for all her faults, is playing smart politics to try to avoid it.
She knows it would backfire on Democrats, potentially hurting their chances across the board in 2020.
Ocasio-Cortez thinks Republicans who don’t back impeachment will hurt their careers. The truth is, Democrats who keeping pushing this ridiculousness have already hurt their credibility — and will continue to diminish it further the longer they keep this up.
