With violence rising in numerous states around America, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine took a tough stance in September when he awarded over $8 million to 13 local law enforcement departments to help them fight crime in their cities. Governor DeWine said at the time, “By investing in our law enforcement agencies and our peace officers, we’re also investing in the safety of our citizens. The goal of this grant program is to support the around-the-clock work of local law enforcement authorities so that they can enhance their efforts to keep citizens safe.” Even with Governor DeWine addressing the issue, officers will never truly be out of harm’s way. In Dayton, Ohio, officers tried to help a man, who ended up stabbing one of them in the neck.

On Thursday, Dayton police officers received a call from a concerned woman about her 29-year-old son, Tyler Patrick. She detailed how he was banging around the house, damaging items, and acting delusional. Sending officers to the residence, the police were able to have a conversation with Tyler before they believed he should be transported to a local hospital. Casually walking him out of the house, Tyler surprisingly attacked one of the officers with a concealed knife. He struck the officer in the neck.

In the video above, the two other officers tackled Tyler to the ground, trying their best to remove the knife from his hands. Luckily, the officer detained Tyler and took him to a local hospital for treatment. Once he was cleared and released, Tyler was taken to the Montgomery County Jail, where he is facing three felony counts of assault on a peace officer. His bond is currently set at $500,000.

The officer stabbed, Officer George Kloos, was also taken to the hospital, where he was treated. The doctors expressed their astonishment about how the knife missed all the crucial veins in his neck. Kloos, who has been on the police force forten0 years, is currently resting at home and is predicted to make a full recovery.

In Washington, D.C., Joe Biden is using the surge in violent crimes as yet another moment to attack the GOP. Biden criticized the Republicans when he spoke at a Democratic National Committee rally in Maryland in August. He declared his support for law enforcement, claiming, “Let me say this to my MAGA Republican friends in Congress: Don’t tell me you support law enforcement if you won’t condemn what happened on the 6th. For God’s sake, whose side are you on?”

It should be noted that during the height of the Black Lives Matter movement, many Democrats supported their cause and their demands to defund police departments all over the country.
