PROVIDENCE, RI – An intense brawl broke out inside a club in Providence, Rhode Island, earlier in September, with authorities arresting one suspect at the scene who was allegedly in possession of an unlicensed firearm.

The incident reportedly occurred at the Mi Sueño dance club on September 11th, with video making the rounds online of the fight that broke out inside the venue. In the video captured at the scene, multiple individuals can be seen trading blows, with some utilizing bottles and chairs to attack one another amid the melee.

Some of the patrons inside the venue can be seen in the video attempting to separate some of the combative parties, but the efforts were mostly futile when the fracas was in full swing.

Despite the massive nature of the brawl, authorities reportedly only arrested one suspect at the scene, identified as 20-year-old Alexander Burgos Cerda. Officials say the suspect was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm inside his fanny pack and was charged accordingly, with Cerda having made his initial court appearance on September 12th.

Locals who live nearby the venue where the incident transpired note that the location is notoriously loud with respect to music being blared during the early morning hours – so much so that some can’t even hear the televisions inside their own homes.

Nina Massey of Providence is among those who emphasized how noisy the venue is, telling a local NBC outlet, “Music is blasting like crazy, you get halfway up the street, and you hear all this, don’t even turn on your tv in your house because there’s no watching tv.”

While Massey noted that Mi Sueño has garnered a reputation for being annoyingly loud, she’s never seen anything at the venue like what played out on the video captured on September 11th, saying, “It’s just chaos, I don’t remember Broad Street being this chaotic, it’s very disappointing.”

Apparently, the Mi Sueño dance club could be facing ramifications for the incident as well, as the Providence Board of Licenses (the local governing body responsible for issuances/renewals of various business licenses, to include liquor licenses) has scheduled a hearing for the business on September 14th.

A report from Boston.com regarding the upcoming hearing for the business notes, “The [Providence Board of Licenses] will discuss incidents on Saturday and Sunday and whether the bar should have its liquor and entertainment licenses suspended,” with the board being privy to the music-related issues, as “a spokesman for the board said there have been reports of music from establishments in the area of the bar that could be felt blocks away.”

Representatives from the establishment have not publicly commented on the incident, but Mi Sueño has voluntarily closed its doors until the outcome of the hearing slated for September 14th.
