LAS VEGAS, NV – According to a report from Just The News, the home of a Clark County administrator was searched on the morning of September 7th in connection to the ongoing investigation of a Las Vegas journalist who was fatally stabbed outside of his home earlier in the month.

As noted in a report from earlier in September, 69-year-old Las Vegas Review-Journal investigative reporter Jeff German was found fatally stabbed on the morning of September 3rd outside of his home located along the 7200 block of Bronze Circle.

Authorities believed that the fatal stabbing occurred at some point on September 2nd, with Metropolitan Police Department Captain Dori Koren telling reporters at the time, “We believe the altercation took place outside of the home,” while adding, “We do have some leads. We are pursuing a suspect, but the suspect is outstanding.”

However, the leads referenced by officials at the onset of the investigation were never expanded upon.

German made quite the impact in the journalistic world over in his neck of the woods in Las Vegas, having spent over three decades in the profession – and it seems as though investigators are pursuing leads into whether his reporting may have been what led up to his demise.

On the morning of September 7th, reporters with the Las Vegas Review-Journal noticed a police presence “outside the home of Clark County Public Administrator Robert Telles, who had been the focus of recent reporting by” the now-late German.

Apparently, German had been spending months reporting on Telles, with the New York Daily News highlighting that Telles “lost a primary in June shortly after German wrote a series of stories for the paper regarding the hostile work environment at Telles’ office, which included bullying and an ‘inappropriate relationship’ with a staffer.”

In addition, a series of June Twitter posts from Telles’ personal account specifically addresses his frustration with German’s reporting, accusing the reporter of “slinging 100 pounds of BS.”

Telles also appears to have felt as though German’s reporting was one of the key reasons he lost the race in the Democratic primary, taking to Twitter on June 17th with, “Does the [Las Vegas Review-Journal] know that [Jeff German] may be doing double duty on their dime? Do they know he basically made a veiled threat to make me take down my site with the truth after I already lost the election?”

On September 6th, authorities in Las Vegas released a photo of a vehicle believed to be tied to German’s murder, which authorities described as “a 2007 to 2014 red or maroon GMC Yukon Denali with chrome handles, a sunroof and a luggage rack.”

A vehicle matching the aforementioned description was reportedly spotted at Telles’ residence, which undoubtedly served as one of the primary factors for investigators to execute a search warrant at the official’s home.

Police also released an image of the suspect believed to have carried out the murder, with the individual seen wearing dark jeans, gloves, a large straw hat that conceals most of his face, and possibly some sort of face covering as well.

Telles has yet to publicly comment on the search conducted at his home.
