On August 15th, 47-year-old Ernest Terrell Blakney pleaded guilty to second-degree sexual assault regarding him engaging in sex with a 13-year-old girl back in 2020.

Prior to Blakney pleading guilty this past August, he’d posted $5,000 cash bail and was released from jail in November of 2021. In light of Blakney pleading guilty in August, prosecutors sought for him to be remanded into custody, considering he blatantly admitted to his guilt, and all that was procedurally left in the court process was his sentencing slated for October 20th.

Reports also indicate that the family of the 13-year-old victim also requested that Blakney be remanded into custody.

However, for reasons beyond comprehension, Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge David Borowski denied the motion to have Blakney remanded into custody following his guilty plea and allowed for the convicted pedophile to remain free until his sentencing.

Police say that ten days later, on August 25th, Blakney would murder his ex-girlfriend, identified as 36-year-old Nikia Rogers.

At approximately 4:30 a.m. on August 25th, the local fire department and police responded to Blakney’s home for what was believed to be nothing more than a “house fire” call – but the residential fire turned out to be a homicide scene after discovering Rogers had been shot in the back of her head inside of the home ostensibly before the fire the was started.

A friend of the victim who was also familiar with Blakney claimed to have received a text message from Rogers after the house fire call that read, “You should have left her alone.” When the friend of the victim responded with, “Excuse me,” the phone number belonging to Rogers responded with, “She dead.”

This individual then texted Rogers’ phone back, asking, “This Terrell,” as this person knew the suspect by their middle name. The pedophile confirmed via text that it was him.

During the early morning hours of September 3rd, authorities apparently caught up with Blakney, and a multi-mile pursuit played out in Milwaukee’s downtown bar district, which ultimately culminated in a shootout between the suspect and police.

Bystanders who happened to be nearby where the gunfire broke out captured footage of the incident. Dozens of gunshots could be heard ringing out between police and the suspect on the video.

Following the incident, the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the decedent as Blakney, acknowledging he died via sustained gunshot wounds.
