While it might seem longer, it has been one year since President Joe Biden decided to end the war in Afghanistan and pull troops out of the country. As many Americans and people around the world watched, the withdrawal was considered to be disastrous as $80 billion worth of military equipment was left behind. Again, people watched as the Taliban showcased some of the treasures they found thanks to the Biden administration. And on top of leaving them a great arsenal, the State Department revealed around 14,000 Americans were abandoned during the disaster. And while the Democrats apparently forgot all about them as they haven’t spoken on the topic since it happened, a team of veterans ended up rescuing 17,000 legal residents of the United States.

According to the Foreign Policy, “The State Department believes as many as 14,000 U.S. legal permanent residents remain in Afghanistan, Foreign Policy has learned, as the agency faces increasing scrutiny from Congress about the status of U.S. citizens and green card holders that are still stranded in the Taliban-controlled country…” The outlet continued, “The finding, disclosed by a congressional aide familiar with the matter, has been transmitted by the State Department to aides on Capitol Hill in private, but officials demurred on revealing the figure when questioned by Republican lawmakers on Wednesday, insisting the agency doesn’t track the figure.’

Although the State Department suggested the number to be around 14,000, when asked about the estimate from Representative Chris Smith, Brian McKeon admitted, “We don’t track [legal permanent residents]. It’s a good question why we don’t.”

Given that the Biden administration quickly moved past the debacle, veteran Chad Robichaux detailed how the organization “Save Our Allies” saved around 17,000 legal U.S. residents from Afghanistan after the Taliban took over Kabul. He sadly stated, “These guys put their lives on the line for us. Not only that, but how does America ever gain confidence with a foreign force in the future when we continue to leave our allies stranded and behind and don’t keep our promises to them.”

Chad Robichaux also discussed the ongoing conflict with Fox News, revealing, “If you average… 4.5 family members, we’re talking 334,000 pending applications, [and] that doesn’t include who is already here. The rate that they’re bringing people out is 200 cases per week, so it would take 140 years to get all of our interpreters out of Afghanistan at the rate the State Department’s doing it.”

With Chad Robichaux still working to extract allies and citizens, he reiterated, “the Taliban themselves are still a terrorist organization. They have a safe haven now.”
