The race-hustling grifter known as Shaun King reportedly doled out approximately $40,000 to purchase a dog, with reports indicating said funds used to purchase the family pet came from cash donated to King’s PAC.

In the world of funny business surrounding funds donated to various causes or PACs, there’s a seemingly endless list of examples regarding questionable uses of donated funds – but this matter involving King stands out as being among the most controversial expenditures in said realm.

Grassroots Law, which is King’s PAC, reportedly made two payments to the California-based Potrero Performance Dogs, with a December 2021 payment of $10,000 and a February 2022 payment of $30,650.

Days after King’s PAC shelled out the second payment of $30,650 to the breeder, King took to Facebook in a since-deleted post bragging about introducing a “new member of the King family,” which was a Mastiff and prize show dog named Marz.

Obviously, when merely glancing at a PAC dubbed “Grassroots Law,” would-be donors wouldn’t be likely to draw the conclusion that their donations would be getting used to purchase family pets.

In fact, when landing on the Grassroots Law website, the mission statement clearly spells out that the PAC focuses on helping “elect candidates who fight to end oppressive policing, incarceration, and injustice.”

The website further adds in their “About” section that “local, state, and federal systems that make up our criminal legal system are administered by people in positions of power who have shown they are willing to do whatever it takes to maintain these systems, so it is more important than ever that we replace these bad actors.”

Clearly, whether or not one agrees with the endeavors of said PAC, most would agree that King using funds donated to the PAC to purchase a family pet does absolutely nothing to forward this purported mission.

As it turns out, King’s PAC spent nearly as much on this dog as it did on contributing to political campaigns since 2021, with Grassroots Law doling out $56,000 to various political campaigns in the aforementioned time period – just $16,000 more than what the PAC spent on a family pet for King.

Ironically, the dog wound up not staying very long with King, as Potrero Performance Dogs posted on their Instagram account (that has since been made private) photos of Marz winning the top spot this past July at an American Kennel Club competition, with the breeder noting in a previous post on Instagram that the dog had “a little too much energy to be a family dog so he came back.”
