WASHINGTON, DC – In what is likely a move for attention regarding the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision overturning Roe v Wade, Representative Ilhan Omar and other Democratic lawmakers were arrested or detained during a pro-abortion rally in DC. The Dems were wearing green “Won’t Back Down” bandanas.

Tuesday afternoon on the steps of the Supreme Court in DC, Capitol police warned demonstrators that they would be taking actions against the unruly crowd that spread down the steps and into the street blocking traffic, giving the lawmakers and others ample time to leave the premises. Instead, many people, including Democratic Representatives, remained and forced police to detain and/or arrest them.

“It is against the law to block traffic, so officers are going to give our standard three warnings before they start making arrests,” Capitol police tweeted, followed by another tweet a few minutes later saying that some were refusing to move, so they were “starting to make arrests.”

Minnesota Representative and “Squad” member Ilhan Omar was reportedly placed under arrest, along with North Carolina’s Alma Adams.

The Washington Examiner reported that New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was seen being led away by police with her hands behind her back as if she was in handcuffs, but she then raised a fist to the crowd.

The Examiner also reported seeing other Democrats being detained by police, including Representatives Carolyn Maloney of New York, Nydia Velazquez of New York, Rashida Tlaib of of Michigan, Cori Bush of Missouri, Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts, Bonnie Watson Coleman of New Jersey, and Jackie Speier of California.

Capitol police later announced that they had made 34 arrests, 16 of whom were Democratic lawmakers.

The arrests, undoubtedly, was a move orchestrated by the pro-abortion crowd attempting to garner attention, as well as giving constituents the impression they were “all in” on abortion for “women’s rights,” as if anything will actually happen to the lawmakers as a result of their arrest.

After she was allegedly arrested, Rep. Maloney said to the crowd, “There is no democracy if women do not have control over their own bodies and decisions about their own health, including reproductive care. I have the privilege of representing a state where reproductive rights are respected and protected — the least I can do is put my body on the line for the 33 million women at risk of losing their rights. The Republican Party and the right-wing extremists behind this decision are not pro-life, but pro-controlling the bodies of women, girls, and any person who can become pregnant.”

Capitol police have confirmed that they made several arrests, although they did not give information as to who was placed under arrest and who was simply led away from the area. Arrests were made for violations of laws against crowding, obstructing, or incommoding.

At the protest, people in the crowd were heard shouting, “Impeach Clarence Thomas” and “What about term limits?” as well as “The people, united, will never be divided.”

Comedian Alex Stein, who had been accused of “sexually assaulting” AOC during Stein’s confronting her near the Capitol, calling her his “favorite big booty Latina” who “wants to kill babies,” tweeted a video of AOC’s arrest with the caption “Don’t worry baby…I’ll bail you right out of Jail.”

AOC, who has proudly touted a “Defund the Police” agenda, was furious that police didn’t arrest Stein for the alleged “sexual assault.”
