While the Democrats have been more than willing to use the January 6th riot as fuel for their claims that former President Donald Trump and his supporters are dangerous, thanks to a secret after-action review conducted by the Capitol Police, it revealed that the same party trying to compare the Capitol Hill riot to 9/11 repeatedly denied requests for more security days before the protests started.
According to the report, “The assessment for 1/6 contained a BLUF that did not express the severity of the threat or the fact that USCP actually had knowledge of a plan in place. The statement that protesters may be armed was included, but it was never expressed with the urgency that they planned to overtake the Capitol and target Members of Congress.”
To make it worse, three days before the riot, Capitol Police issued an assessment that claimed, “Due to the tense political environment following the 2020 election, the threat of disruptive actions or violence cannot be ruled out. Supporters of the current president see January 6, 2021 as the last opportunity to overturn the results of the presidential election. This sense of desperation and disappointment may lead to more of an incentive to become violent.”
Where does House Speaker Nancy Pelosi fit into all this? As the House Speaker, Pelosi is also the mayor of the U.S. Capitol. With that title, she has the responsibility to oversee the sergeant at arms. But instead of focusing on security, the Democrats watched as both Capitol Police and protesters clashed outside. As can be seen in the video below, Republican Representative Rodney Davis explained how the Democrats were more occupied with tarnishing the Trump administration than trying to protect lives.
It should also be noted that while the Democrats have spent the last 10 months attacking Trump and suggesting his supporters harbor racism and value white supremacy, it was the former President himself who authorized the Pentagon to use 20,000 National Guard troops to help stop any violence. That request was denied by Congress. Even Former Police Chief Steve Sund admitted he also requested more troops and was turned down.
Adding his take on the new reports, Republican Senator Ron Johnson said, “Although the Capitol Police did provide responses to my oversight requests, they did not continue to provide additional information as they developed it, denying the American public a fuller accounting of what happened on January 6, 2021. The big question that remains unanswered – and I doubt the House’s partisan special committee will even be asking it – is ‘What role did Speaker Pelosi play and to what extent is she responsible for the lack of Capitol security preparation?’”
