WASHINGTON, DC – Joe Biden managed to put his general lack of understanding regarding firearms on full display on May 30th when talking about there being “no rational basis” for Americans owning certain firearms.

The president delivered some odd remarks regarding firearms whilst standing outside of a chopper on May 30th, where he alleged that 9MM rounds are “high caliber” and have the propensity to blow “the lung out of the body” when used on someone.

“And they showed me an X-ray, he said, ‘A .22 caliber bullet will lodge in a lung, and we can probably get it out, maybe…save a life. A 9MM bullet blows the lung out of the body.’ So, the idea of these high caliber weapons – there is simply no rational basis for it in terms of about self-protection, hunting.”

The president further asserted that gun rights outlined in the Constitution aren’t incapable of being yanked, stating, “And remember, the Constitution, the Second Amendment, was never absolute.”

It’s rather odd for the president to assert that 9MM-based weapons would fall under a designation of “high caliber weapons,” considering that 9MM firearms are still fairly popular in law enforcement as a standard sidearm issued.

Not to mention, this is coming from the same person who back in 2013 – who was arguably more cognizant at the time – was telling people to “buy a shotgun” while also delivering some of the most insane advice on firearm handling.

When Biden was Vice President at the time, he infamously stated, “We live in an area that’s wooded and secluded. I said, ‘Jill, if there’s ever a problem, just walk out on the balcony here…put that double-barrelled shotgun and fire two blasts outside the house.’ I promise you, whoever’s coming in is not going to.”

For the sake of clarification, most outlets at the time noted what Biden suggested people should do was highly illegal.

Even outlet The Daily Caller pointed out that 9MM firearms is still among “the most popular handgun caliber in America.” Apparently, this isn’t the first time Biden has been critical over 9MM weapons, as he made similar remarks back in 2019 during a fundraising event in Seattle, Washington.

“Why should we allow people to have military-style weapons including pistols with 9mm bullets and can hold 10 or more rounds?”

For reasons beyond comprehension, Biden has a tendency to make strange remarks about firearms or mischaracterize the Second Amendment.

For instance, even PolitiFact fact-checked the president when he uttered “you couldn’t buy a cannon” at the time the Second Amendment was passed, as private cannon ownership was indeed a thing before and after the Second Amendment.

The first piece of gun control legislation didn’t come until 1934 – which is quite a few years past 1791 when the Second Amendment was written.
