Things got a bit heated between Fox News hosts Greg Gutfeld and Geraldo Rivera when the topic of abortion cropped up during an episode of “The Five,” where Gutfeld mocked Rivera for introducing the coat hanger schtick into the discourse which led Rivera to call Gutfeld an “insulting punk.”

Gutfeld brought up the shift in the pro-choice culture, where advocates of abortion were at one time cognizant that abortions are nothing to be proud of – yet in modern times, there’s an apparent celebratory culture around killing children in the womb.

“Now that I’m on my soapbox, is it used to be even the pro-choicers would admit that abortion was an ugly thing. But they felt it had to be a necessary evil, something that would be safe and rare. That was the argument you always heard. But now, when you go anywhere on social media, it’s something to celebrate, to cherish, to shout…”

At this point during Gutfeld’s diatribe, Rivera interjected with, “Oh, that’s bologna. That’s bologna…cherish the wire hangers stuck up their privates. Trying to get a what? C’mon.”

Apparently, Gutfeld had a feeling that Rivera was going to inject some sort of tired trope that the left uses when discussing or debating abortion, saying, “This is exactly what I expected. You bring out the old coat hanger.”

Rivera shot back at Gutfeld with, “You are arrogant,” and seemed as though he wanted to same something else before stopping himself. Gutfeld seemingly caught Rivera’s desire to shoot a nasty remark, telling the co-host, “Go for it Geraldo – come one, keep going. You’re making a fool of yourself.”

And just like that, Rivera took the bait, telling Gutfeld, “You know something, you insulting punk?”

Taking the derogatory comment in stride, Gutfeld used the opportunity to crack a joke about the exchange, asking Rivera, “Oh what, am I your new Bongino?”

The coat hanger trope that was trotted out by Rivera is one that has seen a resurgence in the wake of the Supreme Court’s leaked draft opinion. NBC News reported that TikTok users have been sending coat hangers to the Supreme Court as of late, a trend reportedly started by TikTok user Katarina Nowack.

Nowack, who is a college student and thus wasn’t even alive during a period when Roe v. Wade was nonexistent, told NBC News, “Essentially, unwanted pregnancy would destroy my life. I wanted the Supreme Court to see exactly what type of future they are creating.” For the sake of context, Nowack appears to reside in Jersey City, which the state of New Jersey is not among the states who are slated to impose anti-abortion laws.

However, the pro-abortion movement has been spreading propaganda that women will have to stuff their anatomical cavity with coat hangers in the future if Roe v. Wade becomes overturned – despite knowing full well that not every state will impose abortion restrictions.
