A former official in Donald Trump’s administration is speaking out to warn that former First Lady Michelle Obama could put the GOP in “a very difficult position” if she decides to run for president in 2024.

While speaking at a panel discussion at the Conservative Political Action Committee, Monica Crowley said that it Obama is a “completely plausible” candidate for the Democratic nomination, according to The New York Post.

“If they were to run Michelle Obama, that would put us in a very difficult position because they’d reach for a candidate who is completely plausible, very popular, and immune to criticism,” Crowley said.

“Also, when you think about her positioning, she spoke as a DNC keynote speaker in 2020, she wrote her autobiography and did a 50-city tour, she has massive Netflix and Spotify deals, and she’s got a voting rights group alongside Stacey Abrams,” she added.

Obama has long said that she does not want to get involved in politics, even though she is asked to run for office “all the time.”

“It’s not something that I’m interested in, or would ever do — ever,” she said back in 2018.

With the Democrat President Joe Biden more unpopular than ever, however, rumors have long swirled that Democrats will run someone else in his place in 2024. Given how popular she remains, perhaps Obama could be convinced to run for president after all if she feels that’s what it will take to keep her beloved Democratic Party in power.

“For all of these people who say, ‘Michelle Obama isn’t political, they’re making too much money now,’ keep a very close eye on her because her trajectory is exactly what Barack Obama did before he ran for president and what Bill and Hillary Clinton both did,” Crowley said, according to Daily Mail. “I think if she were to run, that would be a very difficult situation for us.”

Back in December, Obama was shockingly endorsed by podcast host Joe Rogan.

“She’s great, she’s articulate, she’s intelligent, she’s the wife of the best president that we have had in our lifetime,” Rogan said of her. “She can win.”

Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump has yet to reveal whether or not he plans to run for president again in 2024. He will likely be announcing his decision after the midterm elections. Rumors have swirled that the two-time failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is also planning to run, which could set up a potential rematch between her and Trump, but she has yet to confirm or deny that.
