The former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich is speaking out to rip into President Joe Biden, saying that he has been an “utter, embarrassing failure” when it comes to handling the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Gingrich told Fox News that the Biden administration’s strategy when it comes to handling this crisis is one of “cowardice, incompetence, and confusion.”

“This is the most timid, cowardly and pathetic administration in modern American history. I mean, there aren’t any words to express it,” Gingrich said. “If you watch Kamala Harris in Europe, it was an embarrassment to have that person represent the United States because she’s so totally, utterly incompetent, and I think the Europeans have taken our measure.”

“I don’t think anybody in Europe looks to the United States right now to provide any leadership of any kind, and I think that Biden is meeting that standard,” he added. “He’s not providing any leadership of any kind. We have enormous capability. We have many very competent people. If they were unleashed, we would in fact end up defeating Putin, and he would end up being driven out of power by his own government. But instead, we are intimidated by him. We’re allowing him to get away with war crimes. ”

Earlier this month, Gingrich discussed what he thinks Republicans want done right now.

“I think the Republican position should be, one, to condemn Putin unequivocally,” Gingrich said during a Republican National Committee press call, according to The Hill.

“We should call for a maximum build up in our oil and gas capabilities, which will do more to hurt [Putin] economically and more to strip him of geopolitical influence in Europe,” Gingrich continued.

“And third, we should be blunt and direct about the fact that Biden first talked about Ukraine in April of last year and did nothing,” the former Speaker said. “For ten months the Biden administration dithered and dathered and kept talking about negotiations, etc, and failed to use that time in a productive way.”

Last week, Gingrich told Fox Business that “we’re drifting towards an enormous danger of nuclear war and an enormous danger of a decisive defeat of the West.” He also said last month that Putin “has no fear” of Biden, and the way things have gone in the weeks since then certainly backs up this assertion.

One can’t help but wonder if Putin would have dared to do this if Donald Trump was still in office.
