In “reaction to the situation in Ukraine,” a Google spokeswoman announced that the business was “pausing Google monetization of Russian state-funded media across our platforms.”

“We’re keeping a close eye on fresh developments and will take additional action if needed,” the official continued.

They went on to say that YouTube will “significantly limiting recommendations to these channels…and in response to a government request, we’ve restricted access to RT and a number of other channels in Ukraine. We will continue to monitor new developments and may take further actions.”

According to a post from Facebook’s head of security policy Nathaniel Gleicher on Friday, Russian state media will be barred from “running advertising or monetizing on our platform anywhere in the world.”

Twitter also announced on Friday that it would temporarily halt advertising in Ukraine and Russia “to guarantee that vital public safety information is prioritized and ads do not detract from it.”

In the past, tech platforms have banned ads during periods of uncertainty around breaking news to prevent the spread of misinformation. Political ads have been suspended by Google and Facebook in the run-up to the 2020 election.

But keep in mind as these new rules are implemented that their accounts have not been deactivated.  They simply cannot advertise.  Also, keep in mind that the sitting President of the United States, Donald Trump, was removed from ALL the aforementioned social media platforms because they wanted to stop him from messaging his people.

Keep in mind that Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran and several other individuals, groups and countries that should NOT be on social media are absolutely acceptable in the eyes of the big tech tyrants.

So did they do something in response to events in Ukraine? Yes. Did they do enough? Absolutely not.
