It’s hard to find bipartisanship in America these days. But there’s one exception. Everyone from Democrat Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot to Mercedes Schlapp of the American Conservative Union thinks the Chicago Teachers Union is a hideous enterprise.
FNC: “The Chicago Teachers Union defied the city’s order for school children to return to in-person learning this week, earning them a new round of bipartisan scorn from those who argue remote learning has done far more harm than good throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kids had been prepared to go back to the classroom this week following winter break. But in a Tuesday vote, 73% of the Chicago Teachers Union said they wanted to return to remote classes until the current spike in Covid cases ‘substantially subsides.’ The Omicron variant of the coronavirus has spread quickly through the country, yet has been reported to be milder than earlier variants. Younger people continue to be at far less risk of serious illness from it, and research continues to show the inconsistency in education the past two years has had detrimental effects on young adults’ mental health.” The union was trashed by those on both sides of the aisle as “selfish” and “malevolent.”
Even with all the evidence showing school closures have hurt students more than covid, 73% of Chicago Teachers Union members voted tonight to deny an in person education to 330,000 students.
Teachers Unions are a malevolent force in our country. https://t.co/w3Csm6diOl

Steve Cortes: “The corrupt Chicago teachers union again crushes children — choosing emotion and selfishness over data and the well-being of hundreds of thousands of students, most of whom have no other options.”
Greg Price: “Teachers’ Unions are evil, malevolent forces on our country who have destroyed an entire generation of children and simply do not care.”
Mercedes Schlapp: “No other group of people in America demanded to be vaccinated and given billions of dollars as a condition of going back to work except for teachers’ unions. Even after getting everything they wanted, they are STILL going to deny thousands of children a proper education.”
Even Democrat pro David Axelrod had this to say: “The Chicago Teachers Union is about to vote to walk out rather than return to classrooms amid Omicron surge. I hope every teacher reads this column. What our kids have suffered thru long absences from classrooms already has had a devastating impact.” The jury is in. The Chicago Teachers Union is universally loathed.

Hate ALL teachers unions all states
CUT OFF THEIR PAY & BENEFITS. Hire non union teachers. They should not
be allowed to dictate terms to the people that pay them. This is blackmail.
Through them out !
Chicagoans, pull your children out of school, and find teachers that will home school them.If there are no students in classroom, the school districts don’t get a dime in funding. The power is with the people.USE THAT POWER AGAINST THE UNION AND THE SCHOOL DISTRICTS!
It would be awesome, to fire, every last one of them & hire new ones. However, WHO would want to teach OR live in Shitcago?
When David Axelrod weighs in, it is best to ignore his codswallop, order another coffee, turn the page to the funnies, and make believe you didn’t see his name.
Unfortunately Illinois is NOT a Right to Work State!
Unions once served a useful purpose, until they became Mafia Tools and sources of Income.
Now they are Political Tools, and sources of Campaign Contributions, (without members consent/approval).
That have outlived their useful purpose.
