Just in the past five days, Southwest Airlines canceled hundreds of flights leaving passengers stranded. At first, the airline blamed the cancellations on lousy weather coming from Florida, but that narrative was quickly debunked. With both passengers and the media wanting answers, the airline has been rather adamant that it has nothing to do with the new vaccine mandate that went into effect this month. While it might have nothing to do with vaccine mandates, Southwest CEO Gary Kelly was interviewed saying he disagrees with having to force pilots and staff to get vaccinated. But remember – the blackouts have nothing to do with the vaccine.
Although the airline is struggling to cover yet another crisis created by the Biden administration. Southwest Pilot Association President Casey Murray wasn’t shy when he admitted the union was suing the airline over the mandate. With Southwest not budging when it comes to workers being vaccinated, Murray said that many of the pilots were demanding the company discuss different alternatives to the vaccine. This would include natural immunity, antibodies, and other forms of treatment. The entire interview can be seen below.
