Democrats are concerned about “tactical missteps” and unfavorable poll numbers for Vice President Kamala Harris, The Hill reports.

The outlet notes that Harris is consistently viewed less favorably than President Biden, a fact that has some party members concerned she’d be a liability on the campaign trail.

The Hill writes that “a midterm visit by the vice president to a congressional district is generally a way to create crowds and win attention for candidates.”

“But,” they add, “Harris’s polling numbers are raising questions” as the Democrats desperately cling to slim majorities in the House and Senate.

One Democrat strategist cited in the report believes the Vice President “has the potential of doing more harm than good for some of these candidates.”

Kamala Harris Poll Numbers, Mistakes Making Her a Liability

The report also reveals an “ally” of Harris ripping her for a serious lack of accomplishments.

The Hill reports that Harris has been given two tasks to address thus far – illegal immigration and expanding voter access.

“No one is coming out and saying she’s doing an amazing job, because the first question would be ‘On what?’” the ally of the Vice President said.

“She’s made a bunch of mistakes and she’s made herself a story for good and bad.”

That same source noted that moderate Democrats up for reelection such as Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ) would likely distance themselves from Harris.

“I don’t think someone like Mark Kelly would want her anywhere around him,” they said.

If allies are saying this, it seems likely that Harris is not instilling confidence in her party currently.

The Border Fiasco

The poll numbers for Kamala Harris have been down ever since her botched handling of the border crisis which saw her flip-flopping and acting inappropriately under fire.

When NBC host Lester Holt pointed out she hadn’t yet visited the border, Harris snapped, “And I haven’t been to Europe.”

She later relented and made a cursory effort to visit the border, something former President Trump took credit for.

Harris also drew criticism from the left as open-borders advocates were dismayed when she told asylum seekers trying to cross into the United States from Mexico “don’t come here.”

Additionally, Kamala Harris has been making gaffes that leave many scratching their heads.

Earlier this month she created a viral moment criticizing voter ID laws by suggesting rural Americans would have a difficult time getting a photocopy of their ID.

“In some people’s mind, that means you’re going to have to Xerox or photocopy your ID to send it in to prove who you are,” she said.

“Well, there are a whole lot of people, especially people who live in rural communities, who don’t – there’s no Kinkos, there’s no OfficeMax near them,” Harris continued, seemingly unaware that Kinkos hasn’t been a brand since 2008.

The Hill does go on to suggest that others “say Harris could be an asset on the ground in a state like Georgia.”

“She’s going to be popular in many places that will matter,” one Pollster told the news outlet.
