Liz Cheney Says Trump Election Claims Are ‘Very Dangerous’ – Compares It To Chinese Communist Party

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) spoke out on Monday in a new interview to compare the election claims made by former President Donald Trump to those of the Chinese Communist Party, saying that “it’s very dangerous and damaging.”

“When you listen to Donald Trump talk now, when you hear the language he’s using now, it is essentially the same things that the Chinese Communist Party, for example, says about the United States and our democracy,” Cheney said while appearing on “The Axe Files” podcast.

“When he says that our system doesn’t work … when he suggests that it’s, you know, incapable of conveying the will of the people, you know, that somehow it’s failed — those are the same things that the Chinese government says about us,” Cheney added. “It’s very dangerous and damaging … and it’s not true.”

In this same interview, Cheney ripped into House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) for meeting with Trump at the former president’s Mar-a-Lago estate in the wake of the Capitol riots. She said she was “stunned” when she saw that McCarthy had met with Trump, adding, “I could not imagine any justification for doing that.”

Cheney then accused Trump of committing the “most dangerous” and “most egregious” violation of an oath of office of any president in history, going on to describe McCarthy’s meeting with the former president was “inexcusable.”

“And so the idea that a few weeks after he did that, the leader of the Republicans in the House would be at Mar-a-Lago, essentially, you know, pleading with him to somehow come back into the fold, or whatever it was he was doing, to me was inexcusable,” she said.

After voting to impeach Trump earlier this year, Cheney was removed from her position as the House GOP Conference chair and replaced by Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY). In the wake of Republicans voting to oust her, Cheney defiantly promised to “do everything I can to ensure that the former president never again gets anywhere near the Oval Office.”

Trump then fired back by saying, “Liz Cheney is a bitter, horrible human being. I watched her yesterday and realized how bad she is for the Republican Party.”
