Thanks to the Democrat’s refusal to denounce the riots that have crippled places like Portland, Oregon, BLM protesters have been free to loot business, destroy public property, and avoid COVID-19 lockdowns. Even President Joe Biden refrains from acknowledging their existence while they continue to demand a seat at the “table”. But while the Democrats are pandering for votes, Florida Governor and Republican frontrunner Ron DeSantis is showing what true leadership looks like.

During his most recent press conference, DeSantis not only showed his support for local law enforcement but also gave a strict warning to any protesters seeking to sow chaos in the state he calls home. DeSantis said, “Hey, if you’re in Portland, you think you can come down to Florida and do this? Stay out of our state, we don’t want you coming down here causing problems.”

Wanting to make sure that his words were clear and understood, DeSantis warned leftists of the consequences waiting on them if they wish to be unruly. DeSantis warned, “And if anyone does cause these problems, if you try to burn something down, if you try to harm anybody — but particularly a police officer — during one of these violent assemblies, there will be consequences. They will be swift, they will be severe, and they will be such that people that see that happen will know that that’s not something we want to do going forward.”

In recent weeks, DeSantis has taken a strict stance when it comes to protecting the men and women in blue by signing an anti-riot bill into law and rewarding them with a much overdue $1000 bonus.

Wishing to protect both officers and citizens alike, the governor believes the heart of the problem lies within the liberal leadership and their lack of respect. DeSantis said, “I think if you look around the country, what happens is, like in Portland, these people riot every night, they go get their mug shot and then they get put right back on the street to do it again. That’s what we don’t want. And if anyone does cause these problems, if you try to burn something down, if you try to harm anybody — but particularly a police officer — during one of these violent assemblies, there will be consequences”.
