Former President Donald Trump left no one wondering what he thought about the current leadership of the Republican Party during an interview with One America News on Thursday night.

In the interview with OAN’s Chanel Rion, Trump ripped the current Republican leadership as “weak” and specifically called out Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) as being “hopeless.”

Trump talked about the ongoing negotiations between Democrats and Republicans about forming a “9/11-style” commission to investigate the events of January 6, when Trump supporters breached the Capitol building.

Legislation to form the commission passed the House on Wednesday with 35 Republican votes, and now moves to the Senate.

Trump’s Thoughts On GOP Leaders

President Trump did not mince words in speaking about his disappointment in Republicans and Mitch McConnell: “I’m watching the negotiation — which is a one-way negotiation in Congress. They get whatever they want approved. McConnell is hopeless, and he can’t stop anything.”

Rion then asked a very interesting question.

She asked Trump if there was any real difference between McConnell and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY). Trump’s answer was a bit cryptic, “I’d rather not say, but there certainly is.”

However, Trump did go on to explain his answer to Rion’s question a bit more:

“I’ll tell you this, if Chuck Schumer were there on the day of the vote counting, he would have said there’s no way we’re going to approve this. He actually would say that four years ago, right? Four years ago, they stood up and nobody complained about it. When our people stand up, they get scolded, and they immediately fold — Mitch McConnell as an example.”

Trump also talked about how McConnell was eager to “get down to business.” He added, “and you know what the business was. Biden signed 17 executive orders. in virtually his first day, and every one of them was a disaster for our country. So we need much sharper, much tougher leadership.”

The President Talked About Many Things

In a preview of the interview with OAN’s Natalie Harp, Rion said that she and Trump talked about a lot of issues including Big Tech, immigration, and the Biden administration, and the upcoming elections in 2022 and 2024.

The one thing that Rion said stood out to her is a recurring theme of a collusion between Big Tech, media, and the Biden administration trying to cover up big stories that she describes as, “right before our eyes.”

She continued, saying that Trump believes the Republicans are complicit in the alleged collusion by virtue of their weakness in the face of these three very large entities. She also said that Trump believes if the GOP does not do something now about any perceived weakness in the Republican Party, voters will be concerned that what happened in 2020 will happen again and they will not come out to vote.

Chanel Rion also said that President Trump is very optimistic and does not feel that momentum on the GOP side has been lost.

Rallies Will Be Back!

Trump rallies are making a comeback this summer. Two events are scheduled for June and one in July. The MAGA rallies have yet to be formally announced so dates, times, and places are still unknown.

Trump is also scheduled to speak at the North Carolina GOP Convention in June. It will be his first speech since speaking at CPAC in February.

Chanel Rion’s exclusive interview with President Donald Trump will be broadcast on One America News Network several times throughout this weekend.
