Like the swallows return to Capistrano and the Detroit Lions lose on Thanksgiving, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez always provides a sitting duck target for Republicans. Nikki Haley is up to shoot.

FNC: “Former U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley on Wednesday took aim at Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., for suggesting that Israel is targeting schools and civilians in its airstrikes against Hamas terrorist targets. Ocasio-Cortez is one of a number of Democrats who have been critical of both Israel’s response to rocket attacks from Hamas and the Biden administration’s initial support of the top U.S. ally. In the tweet, Ocasio-Cortez referred to a $735 million arms sale from the U.S. to Israel this week, amid ongoing airstrikes against Hamas.

“While civilians have been killed in the airstrikes on Gaza– as well as in the rocket attacks on Israel — Israeli supporters note that Hamas frequently hides its weaponry and leadership in civilian buildings because Israel has said it is focused on targeting terrorist military infrastructure and personnel, not civilian structures. Israel was criticized for destroying an evacuated high-rise media building on Saturday, but it has pushed back by arguing that Hamas was using the building and the media company staff as shields.”

“The United States should not be rubber-stamping weapons sales to the Israeli government as they deploy our resources to target international media outlets, schools, hospitals, humanitarian missions and civilian sites for bombing,” the Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. “We have a responsibility to protect human rights.”

“You are either mistaken or intentionally lying,” Haley tweeted back at the congresswoman. “Let’s clear this up,” Haley said. “1. Hamas is using civilians as human shields to hide behind while firing rockets 2. Israel takes extensive measures to minimize civilian casualties 3. The media wasn’t targeted, a terrorist organization was.”

In related news, Haley recently stated, when asked if she would run against Trump in 2024, “I would not run if President Trump ran and I would talk to him about it,” she told the Associated Press. “That’s something that we will have a conversation about at some point, if that decision is something that has to be made.”

Chris Christe disagrees. “After 2022 is over, we’ll make a decision about whether we’re going to run or not, but I certainly won’t preclude it and I’m also not going to be one of these people who’s gonna say, ‘Well, I’ll wait to see what President Trump is gonna do,'” Christie said. “I’m not going to defer to anyone. If I decide that it’s what I want to do and I think I’m the best option for the Republican Party and for the country.”
