On Sunday, former NFL star and Georgia Bulldogs running back Herschel Walker said he is considering running against incumbent Georgia Democrat Raphael Warnock in 2022.

Walker is a friend and longtime supporter of Donald Trump.

Trump has encouraged Walker, who is a Republican, to enter the race. The football legend made his comments during an interview with Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo.

“I’m very honored that they would consider me running for the Senate,” Walker told Bartiromo, commenting on Trump’s suggestion.

“My family, we’re still going through this process of praying and really considering it,” Walker added. “And at the same time, I take it very seriously.”

Walker stressed he is taking his time.

“And people want me to decide, like, right now,” Walker said. “And I said, guys, I want to take my time because this is a very serious, serious thing.”

Walker Wants National Unity: ‘I Want To Bring People Back Together’

“But I will tell you this,” he continued. “Herschel Walker believes in God. I believe in this country. I believe in the people. And I’m going to fight for the people of Georgia if I run so just stay tuned.”

“And I tell you what, it’s going to be exciting,” Walker promised.

Walker said that if he did jump in the race, the good of the country and a better national unity would be his priority.

“Getting people to find out the truth so they can be educated and quit this dividing,” Walker explained. “I want to bring people back together.”
