Who said that “cones of shame” are just for your K9 friends? Humans can most certainly wear them too. In fact, if you are a food server in the state of Maine, they’re now required. No, this is not a joke.

Maine Governor Janet Mills put forth the mandate this month, stating that all food servers must wear their face shields upside down so that their breath is directed up.

I am no conspiracy theorist or UFO enthusiast, but imagine for one second the confusion in distant galaxies should there be life elsewhere studying us: Oh, wait…yeah, now they’re wearing dog e-collars… Yeah let’s abort. This planet is just too unpredictable.

For the record, and as reported by Red State and PJ Media, cones are not required for kitchen staff; they can choose to embarrass themselves in the e-collar while preparing food, or wear traditional masks being mandated throughout the country.

The move in Maine comes despite promising data for those who contract COVID-19, a disease which has proved fatal for less than one percent of those who get it—more specifically, individuals with underlying and pre-existing conditions.

Still, because of the volume of cases and the fact that it’s an election year and Joe Biden is the Democrats’ candidate, fear is all they have. So they continue to push it (and resultant division) throughout the country.

Speaking of division, the move in Maine comes after reports that Virginia officials plan to make the vaccine mandatory upon its release, which will undoubtedly spark outrage among its residents and an even bigger national debate about civil liberties.

But that’s all depressing stuff. Let’s finish with some responses to the above tweet, replies which stick with the K9 theme; they’re hilarious.
