LifeZette is following two congressional races during this general election. The Wisconsin 3rd congressional district and the campaign of Derrick Van Orden, and Nancy Mace’s run for the seat in South Carolina’s 1st congressional district. Both are excellent candidates with whom we’ve had a chance to speak with at length. Both would be great members of the House.

But perhaps most interestingly, both are up against Democrat incumbents. If either one, preferably both, can flip their seats red it could be an indicator of a larger Republican sweep back into the White House and in the House of Representatives. We recently ran a piece on Van Orden. Today, we cover Mace.

Nancy Mace knows who the opposition is and what they are capable of. She challenges them at every opportunity. Here she takes on Hollywood, her Democrat incumbent opponent, and Nancy Pelosi after Hollywood attacked the first lady.

“Just goes to show they are not working for America,” Mace told LifeZette. “We would all suffer if we made a sharp left turn toward a socialist country.”

Mace is a single working mom who loves her kids and her country and “understands both are worth fighting for.” She comprehends the dangers apparent in the social unrest that plagues the streets of major American cities, “We can’t have death and destruction. We can’t have people beaten in the streets and let an anarchist mob ruin this country.” But where does she stand on other vital issues that this nation faces? We’ll let her tell you.

On border security: “America is the land of opportunity, welcoming immigrants — but we are also a nation of laws, and without them, we aren’t a nation at all. Ending the disregard for our rule of law and the contempt for adequate border security is critical to catching human traffickers, stemming the tide of dangerous drugs and prioritizing the well-being of American families over the needs of illegal immigrants.”

Healthcare: “We all know, healthcare hasn’t gotten any cheaper since the government expanded its role in the market, and far too often, we look to the government for solutions to issues in private industry. But, as a limited-government, fiscal conservative, I understand when politics and overly burdensome regulations are removed from industry, the door is opened for REAL competition — and the free-market is able to deliver a higher-quality product at a lower price for the consumer.”

Abortion: “We must safeguard our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. It was no accident that our Founders listed life as the first of our God-given rights. I’m pro-life and believe we should defend life and liberty from conception to natural death. As a mom of two children, this is an especially important issue, to protect life.”

Her background and family: “I’m the daughter of U.S. Army retired Brigadier General James E. Mace, who saw two tours of combat in Vietnam and another in the 1964 Dominican Republic coup d’etat. I’m proud to be the daughter of the most decorated living graduate of The Citadel, the military college of South Carolina. He also commanded the first-ever Ranger Training Brigade and has been recognized in the Ranger Hall of Fame at Fort Benning, GA. Like many South Carolinians, most of my family are military veterans (active or retired).”

This is the kind of leader we need in the House. This is the kind of dynamic campaign that could spark a Republican resurgence in the House. We’ll stay tuned.
