The MAGA/KAG rallies are back on as the Oklahoma Supreme Court on Friday ruled that President Donald Trump’s Saturday night rally in Tulsa can proceed as designed despite concerns about coronavirus, just as Trump announced that a curfew in the city had been lifted for the rally. The president’s anticipation was evident.

The president also had tough words for any groups planning to disrupt the rally. “Any protesters, anarchists, agitators, looters or lowlifes who are going to Oklahoma please understand, you will not be treated like you have been in New York, Seattle, or Minneapolis. It will be a much different scene.”

Regarding the curfew, the president said, “I just spoke to the highly respected Mayor of Tulsa, G.T. Bynum, who informed me there will be no curfew tonight or tomorrow for our many supporters attending the #MAGA Rally. Enjoy yourselves—thank you to Mayor Bynum!”

Mayor Bynum explained the curfew decision: “Last night, I enacted a curfew at the request of Tulsa Police Chief Wendell Franklin, following consultation with the United States Secret Service based on intelligence they had received. Today, we were told the curfew is no longer necessary so I am rescinding it.”

Bynum, in his curfew order, had said “in the interest of national security” he would establish a “federal exclusion zone” in the vicinity of the rally. He cited “crowds in excess of 100,000” and “civil unrest,” referring to riots in the wake of the death of George Floyd that escalated to looting, arson, and violence in many cities. Also, he had warned that he had information that organized groups known for causing violence were coming to Tulsa “for the purposes of causing unrest in and around the rally.”

In related news, the state’s Supreme Court ruled Friday against a Democrat ploy to force all attending the rally to wear a mask and stay at least six feet apart from each another. That policy would have complicated the massive event, just as the Democrats intended. But no dice. The rally will go ahead as planned and the Democrats and their Antifa allies will try another angle to disrupt the gathering.

The court ruled that the two local residents among those filing the suit couldn’t establish that they have a clear legal right to the outcome they sought. In a concurring opinion, two justices of the state Supreme Court wrote that the state’s reopening plan is “permissive, suggestive and discretionary.” “Therefore, for lack of any mandatory language in the [plan], we are compelled to deny the relief requested,” that opinion stated.

The rally will proceed and likely will be a great success. But press reports afterward will be filled with spurious stories of coronavirus outbreaks because of the rally, and the conclusion will be reached by many in the mainstream media that the president put public health at risk by the rally. That narrative will last about a week.
