Jon Stewart launches attack on police: says they enforce ‘segregation’ on border between ‘two Americas’

Jon Stewart, the former host of “The Daily Show,” just went all-in on shaming the American police officers who risk their lives every day to keep people like him safe. Stewart, however, showed what little respect he has for cops when he said that they enforce the “segregation” on the border between what he called “two Americans.”

“The police are a reflection of a society,” Stewart told the New York Times. “They’re not a rogue alien organization that came to torment the black community. They’re enforcing segregation. The police are, in some respects, a border patrol, they patrol the border between the two Americas”

He added that while it is necessary to reform the police in the wake of the death of George Floyd, who died in police custody in Minneapolis, Minnesota last month, making these changes would be nothing more than “window dressing.”

“There’s not a white person out there who would want to be treated like even a successful black person in this country. And if we don’t address the why of that treatment, the how is just window dressing,” Stewart said. “The policing is an issue, but it’s the least of it. We use the police as surrogates to quarantine these racial and economic inequalities so that we don’t have to deal with them.”

Anti-police sentiments have been at an all-time high in the weeks since Floyd’s death, with many Democrats calling for law enforcement to be “defunded.” Unsurprisingly, Stewart soon moved off this topic to do some good old fashioned Trump-bashing, describing the president as a “malevolent Mr. Magoo.”

“He always knows the I-beam is going to swing down and the building is going to collapse — but who cares, because he’ll walk out unscathed,” Stewart said of Trump. “That’s what he has learned.”

It’s easy for a wealthy member of the liberal elite like Stewart to attack the police in this way because he knows that if they are indeed dismantled, he will have no trouble paying for his own private security. Stewart doesn’t know the first thing about the sacrifices police officers make every day, and all he’s accomplished with his latest comments is showing the world that he’s just another spoiled Hollywood leftist who has lost all touch with reality.
