White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany publicly blasted former Obama National Security Adviser Susan Rice on Wednesday for a “lie” she told in a newly-surfaced 2017 interview. At the time, Rice falsely claimed that she knew nothing about the Trump transition team being caught up in surveillance of foreign officials.

“She was asked specifically about [Devin] Nunes’ claims,” McEnany told reporters, according to Fox News. “She said ‘I know nothing about this,’ so that was a lie.”

The interview in question was carried out by PBS in 2017. “In the last few hours, we’ve been following a disclosure by the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Devin Nunes, that in essence, during the final days of the Obama administration, during the transition after President Trump had been elected, that he and the people around him may have been caught up in surveillance of foreign individuals and their identities may have been disclosed. Do you know anything about this?” PBS anchor Judy Woodruff asked Rice.

“I know nothing about this,” Rice said at the time. “I was surprised to see reports from Chairman Nunes on that count today.”

Rice later stated that Nunes’ claim at the time was that the surveillance was “legal and lawful” and that it was a “potentially incidental collection.”

“That means that the target was either a foreign entity or somebody under criminal investigation and that the Americans who were talking to those targets may have been picked up,” the former national security advisor said.

This has all since been proven to be a lie after an email surfaced suggesting that Rice knew about the surveillance that took place that led to the infamous “unmasking” of then-incoming National Security Adviser Michael Flynn from his discussions with the then-Russian ambassador. The email documented a January 5, 2017 meeting between Barack Obama and members of his administration in which the surveillance of Flynn was discussed.

“From a national security perspective, Comey said he does have some concerns that incoming NSA Flynn is speaking frequently with Russian Ambassador [Sergey] Kislyak. Comey said that could be an issue as it relates to sharing sensitive information. President Obama asked if Comey was saying that the NSC should not pass sensitive information related to Russia to Flynn,” Rice wrote in the email. “Comey replied, ‘potentially.’ He added that he has no indication thus far that Flynn has passed classified information to Kislyak, but he noted that ‘the level of communication is unusual.'”

McEnany pointed out that after this meeting, Rice went to a passing-of-the-baton event with Flynn, “where she praised him, wished him success and talked about the great transition into the White House.”

In the brief time McEnany has been White House press secretary, she has already shown the Left that she is not someone to be messed with by publicly shutting down various prominent liberals. We’re glad to see that she has just courageously called out Rice, and exposed her as the lying crook that she is!
