Former U.S. Navy SEAL Derrick Van Orden is the presumptive GOP nominee in Wisconsin’s 3rd congressional district. He brings a lot to the table for the Republican Party and the people of his district.

A 26-year military veteran, 21 as a SEAL, with deployments in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Bosnia, he was awarded two Bronze Stars for his service. Van Orden, 50, is a graduate of Excelsior College in New York. The 3rd district, which President Donald Trump won in 2016, is currently represented by Democrat Rep. Ron Kind.

Kind is a House whip and serves on the Ways and Means Committee. He has been in office over 22 years and is backed by NARAL Pro-Choice America and Planned Parenthood, both of which give him high marks for advocating their abortion-on-demand agenda. Van Orden is a different type of leader. These are his stands on the issues:

The wall: “If we do not have a clearly definable border, we don’t have a country. If this COVID-19 crisis has taught us anything, it has shown us that if we cannot control who is entering our country, we might as well just throw in the towel and stop the American experiment. I will not allow that to happen on my watch. We must continue to build the wall and protect America.”

Immigration/Path to citizenship: “We are a nation of immigrants, we are also a nation of laws. When the Left speaks about a ‘pathway to citizenship,’ they fail to recognize that a path has a beginning, middle, and an end. The beginning is when someone lawfully enters the country and applies for citizenship, the middle is when they live here, supporting themselves and not living off of government programs. The end is when they are sworn in as new American citizens. You don’t get to parachute into the middle of the path.”

Building coalitions/getting work done: “I have already started to build coalitions with serving congressmen like former Marine Mike Gallagher from my home state of Wisconsin and fellow Navy SEAL Dan Crenshaw from Texas. I plan on getting to Washington DC and getting to work for Wisconsin and America, day one. Navy SEALs and Marines know how to problem solve and how to get things done. The Left has messed this country up with juvenile political antics, it is time to bring some more proven, tested, bold leadership to the House like Mike and Dan have displayed. That is what I am bringing.”

The opposition: “The guy I am running against, Ron Kind, has been in office so long because he makes so much money from medical insurance and pharmaceutical companies that he can breeze back into the district a couple of months before the election and tell people the things he knows they want to hear, regardless if they are true or not. He says he is a moderate Democrat but he votes 95% of the time with Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schiff, Jerry Nadler, and The Squad. 95%, that is a solid A. He also gets a 100% rating from Planned Parenthood and NARAL. Those are the organizations that advocate for the ability to have a human baby survive an abortion, leave it on a table, and have a ‘respectful discussion’ about whether or not the human baby should be given medical care. Does that sound ‘moderate’ to you?”

These are the kind of words, and Derrick Van Orden is the kind of person, that would serve Wisconsin and America well in Congress.
