Fox News reports, “The presumptive Democratic presidential nominee (Biden) narrowly leads the Republican incumbent (Trump) 48-44 percent among registered voters in a Monmouth University Polling Institute survey released on Thursday. And Biden leads Trump 48-41 percent in a Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday.”

But that is not bad news for the president. This far out from an election it is good to be considered the hunter, not the hunted.

And if we factor in the consistent GOP undercount, about 5 points, and also bias in the pollsters (remember 2016?), another 5-10 points, then the president is with or past Biden in polling numbers.

This is before the debates, where Trump will maul Biden. This is before voter support of Trump’s coronavirus performance is reflected in the numbers. This also does not reflect Sanders voters who will never vote for Biden. The poll was taken before Sanders left the race. All those factors bode more good news for Trump.
