Liberal television host Bill Maher blasted the mainstream media during his show on Friday night, saying that their “nonstop gloom and doom … gives Trump the chance to play the optimist, and optimists tend to win American elections.”

“Now that we’re starting to see some hope in all this, don’t hope-shame me,” Maher said on the HBO show “Real Time With Bill Maher.” “You know, the problem with nonstop gloom and doom is it gives Trump the chance to play the optimist, and optimists tend to win American elections. FDR said, ‘The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.’ You know, as full of shit as he is, I could see Trump riding that into a second term.”

“Everyone knows Corona is no walk in the park. Because you literally can’t walk in the park. But at some point, the daily drumbeat of depression and terror veers into panic porn,” Maher continued, adding, “You don’t have to put hot sauce on a jalapeno.”

“We need the news to calm down and treat us like adults. Trump calls you fake news, don’t make him be right,” he concluded.

This comes one week after Maher mocked the liberals who have been crying “racism” over the use of terms like “Wuhan coronavirus” or “Chinese coronavirus.”

“Can’t we even have a pandemic without getting offended?” Maher said.

He later added that it was truly scary to him that people “would rather die from the virus than call it by the wrong name.”

“It’s not racist to point out that eating bats is batshit crazy,” he said. “In 2007, researchers at the University of Hong Kong wrote, ‘The presence of a large reservoir of SARS-CoV-like viruses in horseshoe bats, together with the culture of eating exotic mammals in southern China, is a time bomb.’”

“The answer is we should blame China. Not Chinese Americans,” he concluded. “But we can’t stop telling the truth because racists get the wrong idea… We can’t afford the luxury anymore of non-judginess toward a country with habits that kill millions of people.”

We don’t often agree with Maher, but it seems that when it comes to the coronavirus, he’s actually making sense! Liberals would do well to listen to him about COVID-19, because he seems to know what he’s talking about.
