Late last week Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Ilhan Omar (D-MN) used videos to hammer home their points that the federal virus response should bring socialism to America.

AOC said, “We have to start demanding and organizing from the bottom up – from grassroots movements, from nurses to warehouse workers to grocery store employees to the halls of Congress, demanding that we strip profit motive out of our decisions and reprioritize for the public good and the health of everyday people.”

There we go, “strip profit motive.” It doesn’t seem to matter that the enlightened self-interest of the profit motive is the vital personal engine of any successful economic endeavor. Nahhh. We’ll trash it and worry about the consequences later.

Omar was no less strident, “And so, it is important for us to nationalize the supply chain, it’s important for us to take action in nationalizing our health care system,” Omar said.

At least, give them points for candor.

It is amusing that the very system the Democrats are blaming for not catching the virus soon enough, the government, they now want to put in charge of all of healthcare. It is also more than ironic that the system they fetishize, socialism, is the self-proclaimed system of the nation that started the plague, lied about the plague, and continues to try and cover up their numbers on the plague.

But that’s okay. Anything for socialism, eh girls?

The national services in this country, like the USPS and Amtrak, that we have brought under government control require valleys full of filthy lucre to operate every year. Now, as a resident of the so-called Bos-Wash corridor, I love Amtrak. One problem, the rest of the nation pays subsidies so I can get cheap tickets to Philadelphia and New York.

Though when I want to make sure a package gets to a pal safe and on time, I send it UPS. USPS, are you kidding?

So if those two examples are indicative of the future of a socialized healthcare system, maybe it is better that we leave well enough alone and continue to lead the world in healthcare. Sorry girls, socialism will have to wait for another time. Like, never.
