In what could only be described as a cringeworthy incident worthy of one of Dante’s circles of attention trollop hell, the completely oblivious to sane parental behavior parents of a little boy watched proudly as their son decided to come out as gay in front of a political throng only too happy to watch a child, a 9-year-old, indulge in a public sexual spectacle that quenched the Left’s always huge PC thirst.
It was very sad and very indicative of where the cultural center of the Democratic Party stands today. It is at the confluence of prepubescent children and sexuality. It is where no one who cares about children, regardless of their sexual orientation, should ever be. But anything is apparently permitted by the PC Democrats as long as it dredges the very bottom of the cultural well. That is the case even if a child has to be publicly victimized to achieve the Left’s seeming goal of sexualizing children.
Out of sheer mortification for the young man, LifeZette will spare you his name. However, remain it to be said that at a Buttigieg rally in Denver, Colorado on Saturday the boy wrote a question to the candidate asking Buttigieg to help him come out as gay. The boy’s parents were enthusiastic perps in this melodrama.
Instead of doing the decent and adult thing and telling the boy and his parents that such an intimate matter is best handled out of the glare of the public spotlight, Buttigieg did what most pols would do, even though he himself came out in his 30s: He cynically used the boy’s personal issues for his own political profit. My God, is there any low these people will not stoop to?
The matter here is not gay rights or anything approaching it. Civil and constitutional rights are the natural birthrights of every American, regardless of sexual orientation.
What is appalling here is that at an age when many boys are going through the “girls are icky” stage, PC-obsessed parents and a hustling candidate for president are willing to sacrifice a 9-year-old boy on the altar of their overweening devotion to the various ideological Molochs of the Left.
And when the fawning press stories go away and the campaign moves on, what will be left? A confused little boy who deserved better from his parents, and better from another adult who, by his own adult example, knew full well this spectacle to be horribly wrong.
