One day after disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein was found guilty on rape charges, President Donald Trump spoke out to remind the world that the former movie mogul was once a close personal friend of Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton.
“The people who liked him were the Democrats. Michelle Obama loved him, loved him. Hillary Clinton loved him,” Trump said during a press conference in India on Tuesday after being asked about Weinstein by Daily Mail.
“I was never a fan of Harvey, as you know,” Trump continued. “He was a person I didn’t like. I knew him because he was in New York.”
Trump went on to say that Weinstein gave a “tremendous amounts” to Democrats, adding, “My question is will they return the money?”
The president described Weinstein’s conviction as a “great victory” for women that “sends a very strong message” for the #MeToo movement.
“I think from the point of view of women, it is a great day, a great victory,” Trump said.
Trump is indeed correct about Weinstein’s connections to the Obamas and the Clintons.
Back in 2013, Michelle praised Weinstein as a “wonderful human being” at a White House Careers in Film Symposium.
“I want to start by thanking Harvey Weinstein for organizing this amazing day,” Michelle said. “This is possible because of Harvey. He is a wonderful human being, a good friend and just a powerhouse. The fact that he and his team took the time to make this happen to all of you should say something not about at me or about this place, but about you. Everybody here, here because of you.”
This didn’t age well given Weinstein’s conviction today. Makes you wonder who else that the Obamas held in such high regard will be fingered. pic.twitter.com/XdWRvlyf2t

Weinstein was so close to the Obamas, in fact, that they had their daughter Malia work as an intern at his New York office one summer.
Weinstein also was a big Democratic donor, most notably donating $250,000 to the Clinton Foundation that has yet to be returned. Since 2000, he’s donated $26,000 to Hillary Clinton’s various failed presidential bids as well as $45,000 to campaigns or super PACs supporting Barack Obama’s two campaigns.
These powerful Democrats would now like to pretend that they were never close to Weinstein, but the reality is that they enabled his behavior for years. Weinstein’s perversions were something of an open secret in Hollywood circles, yet the Obamas, the Clintons, and their fellow Democrats ignored this because they knew the producer could help fill their own pockets.
Could for President Trump for calling out Michelle and Hillary for their connections to Weinstein. We hope the public will never forget how close to him they really were.
