In the trailer for her new Netflix documentary, Taylor Swift said she got involved in politics to be “on the right side of history.”

Swift Turns Hard Left with Her New Music

“Miss Americana” will be released on Netflix and in select theaters on January 31st. It charts a pivotal moment in her career when she began talking openly about politics for the first time.

“Throughout my whole career, label executives would just say, ‘A nice girl doesn’t force her opinions on people. A nice girl smiles and waves and says thank you,'” Swift explained in the trailer. “I became the person everyone wanted me to be.”

As she launched her latest album, she started speaking out in favor of Democrat politicians, and social issues like LGBT rights.

“I had to deconstruct an entire belief system, toss it out and reject it. It woke me up from constantly feeling like I was fighting for people’s respect. It was happiness without anyone else’s input,” she said.

“I want to do this. I need to be on the right side of history,” Taylor Swift put forward in the trailer. “It feels f—ing awesome,” she added. “I feel really good about not feeling muzzled anymore. And it was my own doing.”

Taylor Is Spitting On Her Roots

Her upcoming song is set to be one of the most political yet. “Only the Young” will be released concurrently with the film, and charts her upset that Republicans were able to gain seats in her home state of Tennessee in the 2018 mid-term elections. It’s designed to “stoke some fires politically” in the hearts of young voters, and encourage them to kick out the “sinister” conservatives.

As a self-admitted fan of Taylor’s music, her shift into politics was disappointing to say the least.

One of the great appeals of her was that she wasn’t like every other celebrity out there, and kept her opinions to herself.

It allowed people anywhere on the political spectrum to enjoy her music, but this has left a bad taste in the mouth.

It almost seems like she’s spitting on her original fans. Country music isn’t a genre that’s massively popular with the coastal liberal elite!

Taylor is betraying her roots, and as much as I want to think this will create a backlash, it simply won’t happen. It’s just sad to see her being turned into a liberal mouthpiece, rather than the wholesome entertainer she used to be.
