Despite an outpouring of support when he first reported an alleged hate crime supposedly perpetrated against him, “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett is now losing supporters fast.

Smollett claimed he was attacked in Chicago by two white men who put a noose around his neck and assaulted him while yelling racist and homophobic remarks.

Smollett also claimed the men yelled, “This is MAGA [Make America Great Again] country” while attacking him.

But some people almost immediately began to question Smollett’s story, since it seemed to change on several occasions.

The Chicago Police Department reportedly now has “shifted” the investigation into the matter.

The police questioned two Nigerian brothers — and then released them over the weekend.

The men, who were extras on “Empire,” were allegedly paid by Smollett to carry out the attack and to go along with his story of a hate crime.

Smollett continues to deny any wrongdoing.

During an Instagram Live chat with fans, rapper Cardi B said the actor could have ruined Black History Month with his alleged stunt.

“I’m really disappointed in him, bro,” Cardi B said.

The rapper said she is holding onto hope that Smollett is not lying. She even suggested the Chicago police may be “racists.”

“I feel like he f***** up Black History Month, bro … I’m not gonna say yet. Until he say it out his mouth that it was fake and the s*** was staged, I don’t want to completely blame him, because somebody I was talking to, they said police in Chicago are racists,” the rapper said.

She added, “So they might probably try to frame him and make him look like he’s a liar, but if he’s not, then, bro, you f***** up for real. Like, why would you do that?”

Comedian and “Half Baked” star Dave Chappelle also publicly spoke out against Smollett.

Chappelle riffed on Smollett during a recent comedy act, according to the website LOGO.

Chappelle reportedly said Smollett’s story “made him so mad he wanted to break a doll house over the star’s head.”
