Remember earlier this year when the Obamas got in bed with Netflix?

And remember how they promised that the content they pushed out would highlight “the talented, inspiring, creative voices who are able to promote greater empathy and understanding between peoples” in a public statement?

Well, those were likely just empty words — because a possible first project from the former president and first lady has been revealed, and it’s pretty political and egotistical.

The Obamas have reportedly optioned a book released on October 2 of this year that focuses on the supposed chaos that took place at the Departments of Energy, Agriculture and Commerce during the transition from Barack Obama’s administration to the administration of President Donald Trump.

The book is “The Fifth Risk” by Michael Lewis; and while it’s not confirmed to be an approved project for Netflix, the fact that it’s even a possibility reveals exactly the kind of works the Obamas plan to pursue in their deal with the streaming giant.

The last thing people need right now is yet another anti-Trump television project.

There are literally channels that dedicate 24 hours to criticizing the current administration for anything and everything. It’s just tired and lazy at this point to jump on the anti-Trump train.

In addition, that the Obamas would put forth stories about their own time at the White House seems incredibly odd and egotistical. Is it their plan to use Netflix as a way to rewrite history and paint that failed administration as a success?

Lewis called his work “a civics lesson … I did three departments because it would be the work of many lifetimes to do the whole government, but you could do this in a fun way across the entire government.”

Yes, we are sure a takedown of the Trump administration by the celebrity Obamas will be very “fun.”

Lewis has actually had some books adapted into major film projects before.

The critically acclaimed box office hits “The Blind Side” and “Moneyball” were both adapted from his books.

“The Blind Side” earned over $250 million in 2009 and “Moneyball” raked in over $75 million in 2011 at the domestic box office, respectively. Both films also received attention from the Academy Awards.
