The Senate Judiciary Committee reportedly met with two men this week — each of whom says that he may be the person Christine Blasey Ford is thinking of in her claim of sexual assault leveled against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, as The Daily Wire reported.

It’s an extraordinary development at this stage of the game.

And any such charges naturally must be checked and verified.

The summary from the Senate Judiciary Committee reads, “Committee staff have a second interview with a man who believes he, not Judge Kavanaugh, had the encounter with Dr. Ford in the summer of 1982 that is the basis of her allegation. He described his recollection of their interaction in some detail.”

This was reported by Politico congressional reporter Burgess Everett, noted The Daily Wire.

Elana Schor, also a Politico reporter, added that the Judiciary Committee had a phone interview with yet another man who said he believed that he, not Kavanaugh, may have assaulted Ford in the summer of 1982.

As last-minute accusations swirl around the embattled nominee — who has vehemently denied all of these allegations against him — Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) on Wednesday blasted Democrats about the multiple allegations against Kavanaugh, insisting that the nation should not “put up with it” any longer.

“It’s amazing to me that these kinds of things have come up way after the fact, way after the end of the committee hearings,” said Hatch, a member of the committee overseeing Kavanaugh’s Senate confirmation process, according to CNN congressional correspondent Phil Mattingly.

A third Kavanaugh accuser, Julie Swetnick, tried to further derail Kavanaugh’s confirmation process during the 11th hour of the Senate process, claiming she had been drugged and raped at a party when the nominee was present.

Kavanaugh said in a statement provided by the White House on Wednesday, “This is ridiculous and from the Twilight Zone.”

The nominee has denied all claims of sexual misconduct and assault.

“I don’t know who this is, and this never happened,” Kavanaugh added.

President Donald Trump and other White House officials are supporting Kavanaugh’s nomination while urging the Senate to conduct a fair investigation and bring Kavanaugh’s confirmation to a vote.
