Americans aren’t cheering the Senate Judiciary Committee Democrats’ unprecedented tactics of chaos and disruption of Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court confirmation hearing Tuesday, with one legislator calling it “embarrassing.”

Even before President Donald Trump nominated Kavanaugh to replace retiring Justice Anthony Kennedy on the Supreme Court, Democrats began plotting how they could best stall, resist and prevent the confirmation process from going forward.

Democrats claimed that the Senate should wait to consider Kavanaugh’s nomination until after the November midterm elections occurred, thus giving Democrats a chance to retake the majority and effectively block the confirmation altogether.

Democratic senators interrupted the hearing’s opening proceedings at least 44 times during the first hour alone, while numerous activists and hecklers in the audience were removed from the room. Kavanaugh’s two children were escorted from the room after the hecklers became more rowdy.

Here are eight notable reactions to Democratic senators’ and liberal activists’ tactics to prevent Trump’s Supreme Court nominee from taking his place on the Supreme Court:

1.) “This display from Democrats is embarrassing,” House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) tweeted. “When you resort to screaming & shouting in an attempt to shut down debate, it means you don’t have facts or real arguments on your side. Even the liberal-leaning ABA unanimously gave #JudgeKavanaugh their highest rating: well-qualified.”

2.) Carrie Severino, chief counsel and policy director of the Judicial Crisis Network, wrote, “Protesters interrupting the hearing are starting to sound indistinguishable from the Senators interrupting each other to try to delay the hearing. People who have a real argument don’t have to resort to silly stunts like this to make a point.”

3.) Former GOP congressman and current radio talk-show host Joe Walsh wrote, “This whole process is a joke. All the Democrats demanding to review all these Kavanaugh documents are the very same Democrats who announced months ago they were going to oppose Kavanaugh no matter what. So why do they need to review anything?”

4.) National security lawyer Bradley P. Moss tweeted, “For all the #resistance folks doing cartwheels right now because of the chaos in the Kavanaugh hearing, remember that one day you’re going to be back in power and this is the new standard with which you’ll have to contend. This chaos helps no one.”

5. CNN law enforcement analyst James A. Gagliano wrote, “To witness the shenanigans at the #KavanaughConfirmationHearing, replete with shriekers in the gallery and process charades from the Committee is to think — who in their RIGHT MIND would subject themselves to public service these days? It appears we have lost our way …”

6.) Wall Street Journal columnist Kimberly Strassel wrote, “Can’t wait for Trump-state Democrats ([Claire] McCaskill, [Joe] Manchin, [Joe] Donnelly, [Heidi] Heitkamp, etc.) to justify/condemn their liberal colleagues’ unprecedented tantrum. Up to now they’ve claimed to want to hear a Kavanaugh hearing, so let’s see if they tell Judiciary Ds to let him.”

7.) American Conservative Union Chairman Matt Schlapp tweeted, “The extreme Left doesn’t even want to hear from Judge Kavanaugh. Very open minded. Their protests are being heard loud and clear.”

Schlapp added, “When Americans see what the modern Dem party has truly become they are disgusted. Not your grandparents’ dem party. #kavanaugh.”

8.) Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R) tweeted, “How did those rude loons disrupting the Kavanaugh hearings get in there? Clear the room or start caning them when they open their yaps! Durbin says it’s voice of democracy. No sir — it’s the voice of ppl w/o basic manners or respect for others.”
