Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s wife, Ashley Estes Kavanaugh (above, far left), has received violent death threats against her husband along with aggressive messages toward herself and her children, according to Fox News and other outlets.
Kavanaugh has been accused of a decades-old sexual assault by Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, who says the alleged assault occurred when they were both teenagers in high school.
A senior Trump administration official said on Thursday that the U.S. Marshals Service is investigating emails sent to Mrs. Kavanaugh’s work email account, the Wall Street Journal reported.
The official said one note read, “May you, your husband and your kids burn in hell.”
The other note, whose subject line reads, “Hi, Ashley,” said she should tell her husband, Judge Kavanaugh to “put a bullet in his … skull.”
Both notes reportedly came from the same email address.
Other messages received have also been graphic and violent in nature. CNN quoted email threats to Ashley Estes Kavanaugh as reading: “My condolences to you for being married to a rapist. Although you probably deserve it,” and “F*** YOU AND YOUR RAPIST HUSBAND.”
One person close to the confirmation process said Mrs. Kavanaugh is “devastated” to see her husband “being attacked this way,” noted WSJ.
Friends of the Kavanaughs said Ashley wants him to fight through the attacks until he wins confirmation.
Ford has also reportedly been threatened; Ford’s lawyers told The New York Times that, in addition to threats, her email account has been hacked and she’s been forced to leave her home.
Ashley Kavanaugh is a town manager in Chevy Chase, Maryland, a suburb of Washington, D.C.
Mrs. Kavanaugh served as the personal secretary to President George W. Bush from the start of his presidency through 2004; prior to that she served as Bush’s assistant when he served as governor of Texas and during his 2000 presidential campaign.
The Kavanaughs had their first date on September 10, 2001, the day before the 9/11 attacks, noted The Daily Wire. They were at the White House the next day and had to be evacuated.
The Kavanaughs have two daughters, Margaret, 13, and Liza, 10.
Ashley Kavanaugh was recently in the news when she delivered cupcakes to reporters and photographers outside the couple’s home.
