Anti-Trumper Jemele Hill Finally, Officially, Leaves ESPN

She accused the president of being a 'white supremacist' — now she's moving on from sports coverage

Jemele Hill (shown above left) has been known more for her anti-Trump rants than for her actual coverage of sports, which was always a problem — her job was to cover sports for ESPN.

Hill is now officially leaving the sports network, which is likely a relief to many conservative fans.

“The time has come for me to begin a new chapter in my life,” Hill said through Twitter.

She specifically thanked some, including former ESPN president John Skipper.

Skipper left his position after reportedly being extorted by a drug dealer for his cocaine habit.

“When I started at ESPN in 2006, I had no idea that such a wonderful journey would take place over the next 12 years. This was the place where I became the best version of myself, both personally and professionally,” said Hill.

ESPN’s executive vice president, Connor Schell, tweeted a public statement addressing Hill’s leaving the network.

He called her “an exceptionally talented writer, storyteller, host and commentator.”

Hill, a former “SportsCenter” host, infamously called Trump a “white supremacist” on Twitter last year.

She has also said he is “unqualified and unfit to be president.”

In response to Hill’s comments, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said the comments were a “fireable offense.”

Trump himself also fought back.

“With Jemele Hill at the mic, it is no wonder ESPN ratings have ‘tanked,’ in fact, tanked so badly it is the talk of the industry!” he wrote on Twitter last year.

Hill’s leaving ESPN is a good move for her and the network.

She was a prime example of liberal bias at the network — and if it’s got any hope of recovering, it can’t hire political pundits like Hill.

And Hill herself always seemed more interested in politics than sports.

With ESPN in her rearview, she can feel free to pursue whatever political punditry she wants.

And don’t think she won’t. She is one of Trump’s fiercest and most extreme public critics and it is unlikely the world has heard the last from her.

Friday is officially Hill’s last day at ESPN.
