James Comey seems to be having plenty of fun as a darling of the media while he promotes his new book and criticizes the sitting president — but not every mainstream leftist is on his side.
“The Daily Show” host Trevor Noah had some choice words for the former director of the FBI on Monday night.
“Wow. This dude is so loyal to America that when he dies, he’s going to turn into a bald eagle and fly majestically into an apple pie,” Noah said sarcastically on his show.
Noah had just played clips of Comey talking about “morals” and doing the right thing as the reason for his new book and his open and unvarnished criticism of Donald Trump.
“Here’s the thing. I know how Comey is trying to present himself, OK. But it’s hard for us to believe that this is a selfless, unbiased exposé written for the people and for the benefit of the people when you’re also throwing grade-school shade like this,” Noah continued.
He then played a clip of Comey from his ABC interview the other night criticizing President Donald’s Trump’s physical appearance when the two first met.
Comey mentioned that Trump’s tan was bad and his tie was too long.
“That doesn’t sound like an impartial lawman.”
“You see, now that’s funny, but that doesn’t sound like an impartial lawman,” Noah said in reaction to the clip.
“That sounds like a guy who got fired from White Castle talking trash about his old boss. That’s what it sounds like.”
