Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle” host Laura Ingraham slammed Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) Monday for “flat-out lying” by accusing her of changing President Donald Trump’s mind and derailing a Senate plan offering amnesty to illegal immigrants.
Democrats brought about a government shutdown Friday when they refused to vote for a continuing resolution that didn’t include amnesty for illegal immigrants brought to the U.S. as children.
Although Schumer maintained hope that Trump would agree to the amnesty deal crafted by Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), Trump ultimately refused to sign off on it. Schumer blamed Ingraham and Breitbart News for Trump’s refusal to go along with amnesty without also accepting the president’s top immigration enforcement priorities.

“Not only has he been embarrassed today with his political ineptitude, [but] now Chuck Schumer is just flat-out lying,” Ingraham said. “So, Chuck, I suggest you get a better strategy team and you get your facts straight. Don’t put words in my mouth unless you’re willing to come on the show — we’ve invited you — and defend them.”
On Saturday, Schumer said, “The hard Right came after him. Breitbart calls him ‘amnesty Trump.’ Laura Ingraham even insisted he be impeached. By the weekend, he had backed off.”
But Ingraham maintained that she never called for Trump to be impeached if he agreed to the Graham-Durbin amnesty deal benefiting illegal immigrants who qualified under the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) deal.
“I never, ever said that the president should be impeached. [Schumer] must be confusing me with, I don’t know, Mika Brzezinski or something? I have no idea,” Ingraham said, referring to the flagrantly anti-Trump co-host on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
MSNBC correspondent Kasie Hunt also incurred Ingraham’s ire. During a Monday segment on MSNBC’s “Live with Craig Melvin,” Hunt said, “The Republicans in the House have been … terrorized by news outlets like Breitbart, like Laura Ingraham.”
The Fox News host wondered, “When was the last time Kasie Hunt mentioned the illegal immigrants who actually do terrorize American citizens?”

“When offenders with multiple deportations stop re-entering the country and terrorizing our people, that’s when I’ll stop ‘terrorizing’ congressmen about the issue, thank you very much,” Ingraham said. “And speaking of terror, Chuck Schumer actually suggested that the president was about to sign on to the Graham-Durbin DACA deal until big, bad Laura showed up.”
Instead, Ingraham said she warned the Trump administration that “the president’s base would be watching the DACA deal very closely, and they wouldn’t stand for amnesty.”
“And, you know what, they obviously won’t and wouldn’t,” Ingraham said. “I also said on the show that the president’s enemies want him impeached — I’ve said that from the beginning.”
Schumer ultimately caved on Monday when he allowed the Senate to vote on reopening the government without a DACA deal.
