Another Hollywood Hypocrite Exposed

The ex-wife of filmmaker Joss Whedon reveals details about the self-proclaimed 'feminist'

Joss Whedon is a strangely beloved figure among feminists and progressive liberals, especially in Hollywood. Despite indications on his Twitter account that he’s an angry troll who doesn’t leave the house and has no concern for respecting others, the filmmaker has over 200,000 followers.

The self-proclaimed “feminist” has also publicly disparaged women for expressing views contrary to his own — or he’s used women as sexualized tools to attack men he doesn’t like. However, the mainstream media rarely call him out; he is instead celebrated by the film community. Currently, he’s working on this November’s “Justice League,” and he’ll also be directing a “Batgirl” movie — a project he should be nowhere near.

Whedon’s ex-wife, Kai Cole, now seems to have confirmed, in an essay for The Wrap, something a growing number of people think about the filmmaker: He’s a hypocrite.

“Let me begin by saying I am a very private person, and the act of writing this is antithetical to who I am and everything I stand for. Yet, at the same time, I feel compelled to go on the record and clear up some misperceptions. I don’t think it is fair to me or other women to remain silent any longer,” Cole wrote.

She said her marriage to Whedon, which she says lasted 16 years, changed when he found success with his ’90s television show “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” which centered around a female character played by Sarah Michelle Gellar.

“I was uncomfortable with the attention Joss paid other women,” Cole wrote. “He always had a lot of female friends, but he told me it was because his mother raised him as a feminist, so he just liked women better. He said he admired and respected females, he didn’t lust after them. I believed him and trusted him. On the set of ‘Buffy,’ Joss decided to have his first secret affair.”

She added that Whedon wrote to her later, confessing he felt like he was trapped in a “Greek myth” and shackled to their marriage. “Suddenly I am a powerful producer and the world is laid out at my feet and I can’t touch it,” he said, according to Cole.

“Suddenly I am a powerful producer and the world is laid out at my feet and I can’t touch it.”

She revealed he had multiple emotional and sexual affairs during their marriage, and he continually lied to her about his behavior.

“Despite understanding, on some level, that what he was doing was wrong, he never conceded the hypocrisy of being out in the world preaching feminist ideals, while at the same time taking away my right to make choices for my life and my body based on the truth. He deceived me for 15 years, so he could have everything he wanted. I believed, everyone believed, that he was one of the good guys, committed to fighting for women’s rights, committed to our marriage, and to the women he worked with,” Cole revealed.

She added, “Now I see how he used his relationship with me as a shield, both during and after our marriage, so no one would question his relationships with other women or scrutinize his writing as anything other than feminist.”

Cole said she was left “broken” by their marriage and she was later diagnosed with complex PTSD.

She finished her essay with a message to the women who continually praise Whedon, and to the organizations that give him awards for his social work on behalf of females: “I want to let women know that he is not who he pretends to be. I want the people who worship him to know he is human, and the organizations giving him awards for his feminist work, to think twice in the future about honoring a man who does not practice what he preaches. But no matter what happens, or how people interpret this statement, I no longer have to carry the burden of Joss’ long-term deceit and confessions. I am free.”

The reason Cole’s revelations about the man are relevant is that they offer further proof of someone who’s been put on a dangerous pedestal he does not deserve. Whedon is praised by the mainstream media as a fighter for social justice and is constantly given accolades by feminist groups who reward him for his “work” on their behalf.

“If you’re someone who genuinely believes that women don’t deserve or aren’t as much as men, you’re like the plague. On the big history chart. You’re the plague … It’s just pointless and deadly,” Whedon said at an Equality Now dinner in 2013, at which he was a guest speaker.

This is the same man who compared Ivanka Trump to a dog in a crude tweet. He also sexualized a teenager to criticize Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.). He even compared actress Nicole Kidman to a brainless puppet when she said maybe people should root for President Donald Trump to succeed.

To top it all off, he tweeted he was “grateful” his mother was dead on Mother’s Day so that she didn’t see the Trump presidency.

If Whedon’s behavior with his wife is true — a spokesperson officially told The Wrap there were “inaccuracies and misrepresentations” in Cole’s essay — then it should come as no surprise, given how Whedon openly disparages women who dare to disagree with him or uses them as props to make political points.

Mind you, the filmmaker is currently making “Batgirl,” which will no doubt be targeted to young women everywhere, just as the recent “Wonder Woman” was. If Hollywood really stood for social justice and progressive social values, Whedon would not be working on “Batgirl” and he would not be a guest speaker at any event touting “equality.”

Bottom line: This “feminist” is a fraud.
