4.) Martha Stewart. It’s hard to believe the home diva was once behind bars.

Stewart was found guilty in 2004 of felony charges of conspiracy, of obstruction of an agency proceeding, and of making false statements to federal investigators.

It all stemmed from a case of insider trading in 2001, when Stewart received a tip about an investment in ImClone Systems. She avoided a loss of nearly $50,000 by pulling her shares the day before the stock dropped almost 20 percent.

Stewart spent five months behind bars at a minimum security prison in West Virginia. She later revealed her nickname inside was “M. Diddy.”

The prison sentence — far from tearing her career apart — pushed Stewart to change her image. She has thrived since being released, creating strange professional partnerships with rappers like Snoop Dogg. (go to page 5 to continue reading)[lz_pagination]
