This past Sunday night, the Democratic Party ran a new TV campaign ad. In the video, a former military officer says he will be voting for Hillary Clinton for the sake of his young daughters: “I want my girls to grow up proud and strong, in a nation where they are valued and respected.”

This election season, the Democratic Party has said American women deserve a better president than Donald Trump. But can they honestly argue that their candidate is any better?

If males can “transition” to females with a little makeup, implants, and surgery, what is so special about having a female president anyway?

The social policies that Clinton promotes would be far more detrimental to America’s female demographic. Clinton campaigns as a champion of women and children, and as a symbol of the feminist movement finally coming to fruition in our country. She promises that, as the first female president of the United States, she would effect change in a realm where men have been largely ineffective. Yet despite her campaign promises, a quick look at what Clinton has in store for the women of America should caution even her most active feminist supporters.

There are numerous issues voters should consider before filling out a Clinton-Kaine ticket — however, the Democratic team’s stances on transgender rights and abortion merit particular attention. Clinton’s opinions on these issues are more corrosive to the dignity of women than the most foul locker-room conversation.

Earlier this year, President Obama decreed that public schools must allow students to use whichever bathroom they find to be consistent with their gender identity. Clinton offered her full support.

A spokesperson for Clinton stated, “Hillary Clinton applauds the Obama administration for taking action this week to stand up for the rights of LGBT people — and particularly for the rights of transgender people — across the country.” She added that Clinton would continue to “make sure all Americans can live their lives free from discrimination.”

Protecting the defenseless is a noble act; however, if protecting the minority means exposing the majority to potential harm, a new strategy may be in order. In this case, Clinton chose to ingratiate herself with a small voting contingency rather than defend the safety of the millions of women and children who use public restrooms. She claims to support the dignity and safety of women, yet appears perfectly willing to take away their privacy and expose them to what many consider an increased risk of harassment and assault.

Clinton’s stance on transgender rights directly contradicts her feminist campaign message. If males can “transition” to females with a little makeup, implants, and surgery, what is so special about having a female president anyway? How can Hillary promote the dignity of women when she has acknowledged the sexes are only separated by an anatomical procedure? Women and men alike should seriously consider the repercussions this faulty reasoning could lead to.

In addition, Clinton’s stance on abortion raises questions about her concern for American women. Her affiliation with Planned Parenthood, the leading abortion provider in the U.S., has been praised as a sign of her dedication to women’s rights. During the final presidential debate, onlookers could almost see tears in her eyes when she proclaimed a woman’s right to late-term abortion. Yet while Clinton stands on her women’s-right-to-choose soapbox, more than 1 million unborn infants are killed each year — hundreds of thousands of them baby girls.

It would seem Clinton’s advocacy only extends to the moment of birth. Before that moment, the child is of no concern. In an interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press” earlier this year, Clinton said, “The unborn person doesn’t have constitutional rights.” She referred to the unborn baby as a “child,” a taboo word in the pro-choice language, but still held that the infant could be killed at the mother’s will.

Her apparent Freudian slip spoke volumes. For all her child-focused campaign ads, Clinton still holds that up to a certain point children are disposable. Even the pro-Hillary father in the campaign ad would hardly appreciate hearing his daughters had no rights until the hour of their birth.

Clinton herself touched on the Chinese one-child policy during the third debate; she did not mention that, for decades, female children were aborted far more frequently than male children. Clinton’s pro-choice contingency would argue that abortion in the U.S. does not discriminate — but the truth is, it does. It discriminates against race and income level, resulting in a significantly higher number of African-American and Latino infant deaths than white infant deaths.

It discriminates against children with disabilities, disease, or handicaps. With Clinton’s policies in place, parents who want a baby boy would have the ability to legally dispose of their baby girls before they were born — and vice versa. This freedom to discriminate, this freedom of “choice,” is directly opposed to the feminist principle that women should be granted the same rights and opportunities as men.

“The unborn person doesn’t have constitutional rights.”

As Christians, we have learned that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit — that women and men are not defined by face and figure, but are cast in the image and likeness of God. We welcome our children as heavenly gifts, and embrace the beauty of procreation, of teaming with God to create a new and unique human being. We have been given the beautiful example of the Blessed Mother, a woman whose love and sacrifice transformed the whole world. We are the salt of the earth, the light of the world, and no harsh words or insults can ever change that.

Pray for Hillary Clinton — but do not vote for her. She cannot be a good representative of American women, since she does not understand what it really means to be a woman. After years of political intrigue, plotting, and campaigning, Clinton has lost sight of the joy of motherhood, the uniqueness of the feminine character, and the incredible capacity for love that God has given us.

It is difficult to say what Hillary Clinton’s life has been like over the last 20 years. One might imagine she has not always been treated with the respect that every woman deserves. As this election season draws to a close, offer a prayer or sacrifice for Hillary Clinton and her contingency — but cast your ballot for someone else.
