As the people of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, begin the hard work of rebuilding after devastating floods, one kind teenager not only volunteered to help with the clean-up — he sat outside at a ruined upright piano and played a classical composition.

His good work lifted the spirits of those who have lost so much.

Mark Chasuk, 16, stopped slogging through water and lugging ruined belongings long enough to play a classical favorite — seated in a metal folding chair at a crumbling piano in the middle of a residential block dotted with debris.

In the ViralHog video, Chasuk can be heard playing “Tarantella” by Albert Pieczonka. He was playing outside the former home of a friend.

“A friend of mine lived there,” Chasuk told “Inside Edition.” “He was really into music, so that was his piano, and it took on four feet of water. They had to put it out onto the curb.”

Chasuk said the piano was damaged from the water, but once it dried, it couldn’t be played or restored. So he took a moment out of the chaos to coax one last tune from it.

“It was really wet below the keys,” he explained. “Once it dries, all the wood would warp. Plus, all the metal inside was starting to rust, and the pieces inside the piano were basically lost.”

“They lost everything in their house,” he noted.
